Previous UFC champ Velasquez jailed for tried murder

Velasquez, 42, begged no contest to tried murder, felony attack and various other related weapon charges last August in California following a shooting he dedicated in 2022.

Velasquez combated 15 times in the UFC, two times winning the heavyweight title with victories over Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos.

The California native retired after a knockout loss by Francis Ngannou in 2019, with a document of 14 victories and 3 losses.
