Four-year-old Miuccia beat greater than 18,000 canines from worldwide to claim the top honor on Sunday at the NEC.
“It is truly a desire come real,” said her trainer Giovanni Liguori. “I am really overwhelmed. Miuccia performed her best”.
It’s the very first time a canine from Italy has won best in show, which comes with a prize and small prize money of apparently £200.
Miuccia, that is owned by Enrico De Gaspari, was the champion of the hound team previously in the show, and beat the champions of 6 various other teams to win the top reward.
“I definitely love her,” said trainer Mr Liguori. “She is the sweetest canine.
“She constantly desires to be very shut to me and that is one of the most important point.”
Mr Liguori said it was “amazing, it is amazing” to be the first canine from Italy to be crowned best in show.
“As Italians we are very happy and means that we are doing a great job.”
Helen Kerfoot, Crufts show supervisor, said it was “great” to watch Miuccia and her handler’s “solid connection with each other in the ring, and they are really deserving champions”.
“Well done to all our various other wonderful finalists too.
“The canines, their proprietors, and handlers should be extremely happy to have taken component in such a memorable last – it is an amazing accomplishment, one we make sure they will prize for many years to find.”
The runner-up was Viking, a Tibetan mastiff from Romania.
